Ninth interior image from "Horace Spiegelman Gets Made Redundant," a collaborative illustration book I did with [link] . This book has full colour front & back covers, and greyscale interiors. It tells the story of Horace Spiegelman, an office drone who wakes up one morning, and finds himself in two places at once. The story is told in double-page spreads, with Agnes's art on the left, and mine on the right; each of us has illustrated the unfortunate fate of one of the Horace Spiegelmans.

This is the last page. One of the birds that the first Horace Spiegelman turned into has died. The plant whose roots are wrapping around it was part of the other Horace Spiegelman. The leaves are full of hands because all the broken-up parts of the Horace Spiegelmans are still reaching for each other. But they'll never re-converge.

Copies can be purchased here: [link] - please buy and enjoy! :-)

Suggester says: "The delicacy and complexity of the artist's linework is just breathtaking. I particularly love the surreal imagery, and how it's so well suited by the toned paper."

Words can not describe how utterly beautiful this is . . . but i shall try. The sheer amount of detail and rich symbolism is staggering . . . And the face on the bird just kills me. And those hands . . . So gnarly . . . It's all just bloody beautiful.

I love the delicate intricacy of this illustration, the way in which it seems like a pretty average storybook illustration at first glance but then reveals such depth and meaning. Glorious work, well done!
