Horace Spiegelman - page 3 by socar Horace Spiegelman - page 3 by socar
Third interior image from "Horace Spiegelman Gets Made Redundant," a collaborative illustration book I did with [link] . This book has full colour front & back covers, and greyscale interiors. It tells the story of Horace Spiegelman, an office drone who wakes up one morning, and finds himself in two places at once. The story is told in double-page spreads, with Agnes's art on the left, and mine on the right; each of us has illustrated the unfortunate fate of one of the Horace Spiegelmans.

Some problems with perspective...oops. I am working on that, lately, but it's a weak area for me. A few of the pages had mistakes. Another thing: you can't make it out very well because of loss of detail in the JPG, but he is looking at Google, on his iPhone.

Copies can be purchased here: [link] - please buy and enjoy! :-)

I will post more pages from this, in the future.

So much emotion in this piece. I like how the space above him creates a sense of isolation and vulnerability.

Wow! The way you can see all his ribs and the vertebrae in his back... wow! I love how you draw highlights

I hope this starts to sell better (than it is from what I gather by your podcast). The imagery is beautiful. I wonder if the title isn't putting people off- given the mundane and depressing connotations of redundancy.

Ha, yeah, a lot of people got made redundant for real, lately. I didn't even think of that. I would have entitled it "Horace Spiegelman Gets Made Redundant (but not in the sense of getting laid off; don't worry--though he loses himself, he keeps his job)," but that might have been a trifle ungainly. ;-)

Maybe I should have called it "Don't make me redundant (sniffle!)," so people would think it was related somehow to "The Office" (original series).
