Horace Spiegelman - page 5 by socar Horace Spiegelman - page 5 by socar
Fifth interior image from "Horace Spiegelman Gets Made Redundant," a collaborative illustration book I did with [link] . This book has full colour front & back covers, and greyscale interiors. It tells the story of Horace Spiegelman, an office drone who wakes up one morning, and finds himself in two places at once. The story is told in double-page spreads, with Agnes's art on the left, and mine on the right; each of us has illustrated the unfortunate fate of one of the Horace Spiegelmans.

On this page, Horace got ill from eating tax forms. I was just doing my taxes, last week; I hated it, too. I lost some receipts when I moved, so I had to go through all my credit card bills, to find my business expenses. In doing so, I discovered that I was still signed up with match.com, which I joined many years ago, and never used.

Copies can be purchased here: [link] - please buy and enjoy! :-)

I will post more pages from this, in the future.

This is lovely lovely work , astounding deatil and the project sounds like a great idea. You cant tell if its fine inks or pencil lines. You still on match then?

Ha, ha, no, I'm not still on Match. I tried eharmony, too, but what a freakshow! I swear, there was a guy on there whose profile said he only wanted to hear from smelly women who don't have good personal hygiene, because he finds that more sensual. Internet dating is the worst!

Oh, and thank you! :-) It's ink, but I didn't erase the pencil when I was done, so there are probably a couple of pencil lines visible here & there.

hmmm soo many good things i can say. Every line is deliberate and well placed, contrast is amazing, no smudges where they shouldn't be. Awesome Job!

I thought you were emetophobic? >_< This kind of triggered for me.... I love your work, though! It's always beautiful, even if it does contain v*

Sorry to scare you with this drawing! I do, indeed, have emetophobia, but I'm not bothered by a drawing of someone who is ill--only by the real thing, or the possibility of the real thing, someone looking ill near me, et cetera. I think it's because the drawing can't infect me with anything, so it doesn't read as a threat. I know that a lot of people are bothered even by that, though...I hope it didn't freak you out too much!

That's okay! I don't usually, either! Well, when I see it in movies it freaks me out, so it's not EXACTLY like your case. But this time I was just so captivated by the rest of the drawing that I didn't notice it right away. It just shocked me.
Your work is absolutely beautiful.

Tax forms- best used for making origami birds, or little paper boats with which to re-enact the defeat of the Spanish Armada in the bath. Unleash the fire ships!

Gorgeous intricate work here, by the way. The background looks timeless. Feel for Horace, he looks stressed enough to turn into a were-squirrel.
